St Moritz involved the demolition of the former Novotel Hotel in St Kilda covering over 5500 sqm. and up to 8 storeys’ in height. The former hotel rooms required to be hand stripped and loaded out manually then once a cold shell progressively demolished using high reach and 40 tonne excavators.
Once down to basement level City Circle coordinated with the incumbent civil contractor a rigorous and engineered methodology to remove boundary walls without the requirement for new retention systems to be implemented. This allowed our JV partner in civil works to commence excavation and retention unimpeded.
